Make Something Happen!
To my friends–
“Dare to be wise: Begin!”, says the Roman poet Horace. “He who postpones the hour of living rightly is like the rustic who waits for the river to run out before he crosses.”
All of us have goals. The problem is that too few of us organize our goals into a system that can work. It is thought that fewer than 2% of the public actually write their goals down, while it has been proven that those who do write them down achieve a much higher level of success than those who don’t. When we speak of goal achievement, we’re really talking about accountability, and when we discuss accountability let’s keep four things in mind.
- See it! To recognize and acknowledge the full reality of the situation we face. Being truly honest with ourselves can be a tough call.
- Own it! To accept responsibility for the realities or experiences we create for ourselves and others. All of our life paths have brought us to where we now stand.
- Solve it! Find and carry out solutions to problems in ways we may not have thought of before. A journal can be so important here because we’ll have taken the time to record our thoughts.
- Do it! Follow through even if there is risk in commitment and courage. Accept full responsibility for the result.
Keep a journal! Write it out as you fight it out. Sometimes problems can come so thick and fast that they may seem to hide the sun. Well, at least we’ll be able to fight our battles–and solve our problems–in the shade. I hope that you all have a great rest of the week.
