Robert Kiyosaki has been quoted as saying that the ability to sell is the most important skill in business. I’m going to modify that a little bit to say that the ability to influence is the most important skill in business. I joined Toastmasters more than 30 years ago because I wanted to improve my public speaking skills. It is one of the best investments of my time that I have ever made.
Toastmasters provides a safe and supportive environment where you can try new ideas, make mistakes, and learn fundamentals of leadership. Evaluations focus on helping you become a more effective speaker. We speak many languages in the world of business: the Golden Rule; the Golden Mean; it’s our policy; the greater good; what if everyone did that?; I’m doing this because I can. It’s important to understand them all and to speak them effectively. Toastmasters can help. Check it out.
